Requirements for City Employment

Thank you for your interest employment with the City of Cedar Hill!

The minimum age to work at the City is 18 years old if the position involves use of hazardous equipment or chemicals. There are a limited number of positions available at the City's pool and Recreation Center during the summer months that have a minimum age requirement of 16.

The City requires a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and criminal background/records check for all jobs. A pre-employment physical is required for certain positions.

Posting of Job Openings

Each job opportunity requires a City of Cedar Hill application to be submitted online to Human Resources. Online applications are accepted only for open jobs as currently listed on the Employment Opportunities Page. On that page you may complete an online application and attach required documentation. Unfortunately, incomplete applications and resumes alone will not be considered. A complete, online application is required to receive proper consideration for the position in which you are interested. You may also sign up to receive a notification of a job opening for future job opportunities.

Interviews

Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications received, we are not able to grant interviews to all qualified candidates. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted directly to schedule an interview. The length of the hiring process may vary depending on departmental needs and priorities, but is usually within three weeks after the deadline date.

Once the job is filled, applicants are notified by e-mail. Emails are sent through the City's online application system, NEOGOV. Please be sure to check your "junk" or "spam" mail folder for emails from NEOGOV.
